(4 HR HANDS-ON SEMINAR)

This course is designed for practitioners and volunteers in education, advocacy, and other social services who don’t want to go back to “the way things have always been” in our staff meetings and organizing spaces. Whether you are an administrator, teacher, board member, activist, city employee, or community leader; hands-on learning experiences will provide trauma informed approaches using clay that will bring your team back together after a year of working remotely. Our curriculum offers tools, prompts, and parameters to challenge learners to embrace mind-fulness, failure, and resilience. Using clay will provide us with a process for going deep in exploring our own mental models and systemic barriers that have inhibited better outcomes for the communities that we care most about. In this 4 hour, in-person seminar, professional ceramic teaching artist Daniel Gyu and youth and adult educator Aviva McClure will provide rich examples of simple, replicable activities to increase teamwork and strengthen your organizational strategies. Each participant will leave with experience, workbooks, and presentations to lead exercises that center Equity Diversity and Inclusion while introducing team-building tools. Instructors: Aviva and Daniel

Location: Grace Institute (1535 NE 17th Ave, Portland, OR 97232)

Date: Friday, July 9th 10am to 2pm
