Plant Energetics

Teaching artists and cultural workers Sea Mason and Aviva McClure are returning to the field this year for an in-person learning experience! Building upon our last event, participants will engage in “native and invasive” plant observation, storytelling from Hoodoo practice and Orisha wisdom, and witnessing biomimicry of systems in Portland, Oregon. This workshop is intended to bring us together as practitioners in this movement, informing our collective practice through observation, reflection, and practical application.

Facilitators will guide us in an exploration of our surroundings at the Portland Audubon’s outdoor classroom and sanctuary. What can plants teach us about resilience, medicine, and other qualities of resistance?

We will identify the ways in which you can wrap this experience into your personal Theory of Change. How can natural systems in your community inspire your action in local and global movements? Where might you use this type of nature walking in your cultural practice?
